Part of the story
Dr. R. A. Slaughter (Doc) earned her doctoral degree in Cognitive Studies in Reading at Widener University. Her dissertation explores multicultural literature in private schools through the lens of Critical Pedagogy. Two of her books include the textbook Turning the Page: The Ultimate Guide for Teachers to Multicultural Literature, and its workbook companion
Turning the Page: A Guide to Securing Multicultural Literature for Schools both published by Rowman & Littlefield. As part of Dr. Slaughter's mission to annihilate illiteracy, Doc has created a 501c3 devoted to providing premium literacy resources to families for free.
